Company's Description: Welcome to Salt Marsh Photographic Cruises! We offer the Lowcountry's best opportunities to capture images from the water. Get up close to ocean hammocks, marshes and all the wildlife that resides there. There are many great opportunities to capture our beautiful scenery, birds, alligators and dolphins. Just bring your camera and some sunscreen and a sense of adventure. Photography is not a prerequisite as many people go just to enjoy the scenery and learn about the wild life. Either way...a great day awaits. Captain Watts strives to give you a unique experience, allowing you to get some great photo opportunities. What a great way to remember your trip to Hilton Head Island! Cameras are not provided and please bring your camera straps as we are not responsible for any items that gets dropped, damages or lost. It happens, even Captain Watts has dropped his camera in the water! We use an 18-foot Grady-White boat for our tours. This boat is ideal because it is small enough to maneuver through the shallow tidal creeks. This allows us to get up close to the wildlife and the flora. A Hilton Head resident for more than 25 years, Captain Larry Watts may be best known for being a beloved veterinarian or his work as the local veterinarian for the National Marine Mammal Stranding Program. What many may not realize is that Captain Watts would spend all of his off time cruising local waters on his boat indulging his love of photography and wildlife. After taking an early retirement, he decided to combine his passions for boating, wildlife and photography and offer them to the many locals and visitors who desire to see Hilton Head Island in a whole new way.
The Gilbert Creek Cruise (about 2-1/2 hours) takes you around Pinckney Island and into Gilbert Creek. The Coulter Creek Cruise (about 3-1/2 hours) includes Gilbert Creek as well as Coulter Creek. Venture up the May River into Bull Creek, and then into Coulter Creek, which winds along Palmetto Bluff. This loop takes you along Daufuskie Island. The Doughboy Loop Cruise (about 4-1/2 hours) includes both the Gilbert Creek Cruise and the Coulter Creek Cruise. It also travels deeper into the inlets, tidal streams and creeks. You'll get up close to hidden areas that you just can't get to by land. You might even spot a wild boar on the more remote islands. What a great way to remember your trip to Hilton Head Island! Just bring your camera and some sunscreen and a sense of adventure.
Location: All tours depart from the dock behind the Skull Creek Boathouse (formerly the Boathouse II) at 397 Squire Pope Road.
